Service Description

Tutoring Services

Academic Edge Tuition provides personalised educational tutoring services for students from pre-prep to university level. Services include one-to-one tutoring, exam preparation, academic support, and learning skills development. Services are delivered both online (via video conferencing) and in-person (in specified geographic areas).

Service Customisation

Each tutoring programme is tailored to the individual student's needs, learning style, and academic goals. The specific curriculum, pace, and approach will be discussed and agreed upon during the initial consultation.

Tutor Assignment

We carefully match each student with the most suitable tutor based on subject expertise, teaching style, and student needs. While we strive to maintain consistency, we reserve the right to reassign tutors if necessary to ensure the best educational outcomes.

Booking & Payment

Booking Process

Tutoring sessions must be booked in advance through direct communication with Academic Edge Tuition. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate family commitments and student availability.

Pricing

Tutoring rates vary based on the level of study, subject, delivery method (online or in-person), and tutor experience. Current rates are: Online tutoring from £55 per hour, and in-person tutoring from £60 per hour. Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice to existing clients.

Payment Terms

Payment is typically required in advance of tutoring sessions or on a monthly basis, as agreed upon during booking. We accept payment via bank transfer, cheque, or other agreed methods. Late payments may result in suspension of services until the account is brought current.

Initial Consultation

We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your child's needs and determine if our services are the right fit. This consultation involves no obligation to proceed with regular tutoring.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Client Cancellations

We understand that schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the session cost. Cancellations made with less than 6 hours' notice or no-shows will be charged the full session fee.

Tutor Cancellations

In the rare event that we need to cancel a session, we will provide as much notice as possible and work with you to reschedule at a convenient time. No charges will apply for sessions cancelled by the tutor.

Emergency Circumstances

We recognise that genuine emergencies occur. In cases of illness, family emergencies, or other unavoidable circumstances, cancellation fees may be waived at our discretion. Please contact us as soon as possible in such situations.

Service Termination

Either party may terminate the tutoring arrangement at any time with written notice. Any prepaid fees for uncompleted sessions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis within 14 days of termination.

Intellectual Property

Teaching Materials

All teaching materials, lesson plans, handouts, and resources created by Academic Edge Tuition remain our intellectual property. These materials are provided for the student's personal educational use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without written permission.

Student Work

Any original work created by students during tutoring sessions remains the intellectual property of the student. We may retain copies of student work for educational assessment and progress tracking purposes only.

Liability & Warranties

Service Warranty

While we are committed to providing high-quality educational support and will make every reasonable effort to help students achieve their academic goals, we cannot guarantee specific exam results, grades, or university acceptances. Educational outcomes depend on many factors, including student effort, attendance, and aptitude.

Limitation of Liability

Academic Edge Tuition's liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific services in question. We will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from the use of our services.

Safeguarding

All tutors undergo appropriate background checks and follow safeguarding best practices. For in-person sessions in students' homes, we require that a parent or responsible adult is present on the premises. For online sessions, we recommend parental awareness and periodic supervision.

Insurance

Academic Edge Tuition maintains appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance for the protection of clients and tutors.

Conduct & Expectations

Student Conduct

We expect students to treat tutors with respect, arrive prepared for sessions, and make a genuine effort to engage with the material. Persistent disruptive behaviour or disrespect toward tutors may result in termination of services.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and guardians are expected to provide a suitable learning environment for sessions, ensure student attendance, communicate any relevant information about the student's needs or circumstances, and make timely payments.

Tutor Professional Standards

Our tutors are committed to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards, including punctuality, preparation, respect for student and family privacy, and ongoing professional development.

Privacy & Data Protection

Data Handling

We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection legislation, including GDPR. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Confidentiality

We treat all student information and academic records with strict confidentiality. Information will only be shared with relevant tutors and, in the case of minors, with parents/guardians. We will not share student information with third parties without consent, except where required by law.

Dispute Resolution

Communication First

We are committed to resolving any concerns or complaints promptly and fairly. If you have any issues with our services, please contact us directly so we can address them as quickly as possible.

Formal Complaints

If an issue cannot be resolved through direct communication, you may submit a formal written complaint. We will investigate thoroughly and respond within 14 days with our findings and proposed resolution.

Governing Law
